Man Killed In Shooting on Market Street Outside SF’s Warfield Theatre

A man was pronounced dead at the hospital Saturday following a shooting outside San Francisco's Warfield Theater on Market Street, and witnesses say he was shot multiple times.

The shooting happened around 1 am Saturday, when San Francisco police responded to the 900 block of Market Street near Fifth Street and found the wounded man, as the Chronicle reports. Paramedics took him to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, but he later died.

Police have not identified the victim or released information about the shooter.

Video shared by Tenderloin Activities shows first responders arriving outside the Warfield amid a crowd of panicked bystanders. At one point, a woman appears to grab onto the gurney and help pull it toward the scene, apparently trying to get the victim medical attention as quickly as possible.

When the gurney reaches the curb, its wheels catch on the edge, causing it to collapse and sending some of the lifesaving equipment onto the ground. Nearby police officers and other bystanders then pull the woman away from the gurney as responders continue toward the victim.

A commenter who says he's a firefighter noted that SFPD officers should’ve done a better job securing the area.

Although the view is partially obstructed, the video later appears to show first responders bringing the gurney through the Warfield's doors before transporting the victim back to the ambulance. Several people who appear to be his loved ones follow closely behind, calling out his name as he is taken away in the gurney.

Tenderloin Activities reported that the man had been shot multiple times, though this information has not been confirmed.

This was San Francisco's 20th homicide of the year to date, following Thursday's fatal shooting in Hunters Point.

Anyone with information about the shooting can contact SFPD at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the beginning of the message. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
