INDIANAPOLIS — Protein Bar and Kitchen has opened just off Monument Circle, bringing a fast-casual, high-protein menu to downtown Indianapolis.
Founded in Chicago 17 years ago, the concept’s first local franchise is owned by NASCAR pit reporter Jamie Little and her husband. “We’ve been in franchising for 12 years,” Little said. “This felt like a home run — healthy food that tastes great.”
Mornings feature breakfast bowls and burritos plus local Rivet Coffee. Smoothies and shakes run all day, with lunch starting at 10:30 a.m. “We’ve got something for everyone, including kids,” Little said.
Director of Operations Sarah Ayoub highlighted a new favorite: romaine, rice, gluten-free breaded chicken, pickled onion, tomatoes, spicy chipotle ranch and giardiniera. “It’s our take on a spicy chicken sandwich — the zing and kick seal the deal,” she said.
Seasonal sips include Smashing Pumpkin and a blackberry-banana “Blueberry.” The Daily Grind — cold brew, banana and date syrup — is a staple. Most items can be made as a wrap, bowl or burrito. Popular picks include the Hot Chick, Almost Avocado Toast, açaí bowls, breakfast burritos and the miso salmon bowl.
“We’re excited to offer convenient, high-protein choices downtown,” Little said.
